Mixing Campy Shifting and Shimano Hubs

  • In 2002 I converted my commuter bike from XT levers to Campy Ergo shifters. I did the conversion myself after researching options for mixing the two brands of components. Finding out how to combine the two brands was interesting. The information is out there, but it takes some looking. What I've enclosed below was not pioneered by me. I spent some time finding out how others did this in the past and put the information in one place for convenient reading. I found six ways to mix Campy Ergo levers with Shimano rear hubs.

The low resolution version downloads quickly and looks OK on screen. They both have the same information. Click the link below to download the version you want. This file is a work in progress and I will update it as I learn more. The first version was 1.0

Rans Screamer Crank Run out

  • I posted a 7 second high resolution video showing the crank run out on our IPS Screamer. The video shows two backward rotations of the crank with a dial indicator placed against the tip of a 48 tooth ring. I measured .050--.053" of run out. This was approximately 1/16".
  • There are two versions of this file, mpg and QuickTime. Mpg works well for Windows operating systems, but if you have QuickTime you can also download the QuickTime file. Macintosh users may want to download the QuickTime file. There is no sound. You may need to adjust the brightness and contrast of your player in the video settings to improve viewing. I would also recommend that you select the loop option in your player.
