Can I upgrade to the Pro version and import my Pro data?

  • Occasionally I get this question, but not very often. I have to assume that most people using the Lite version are satisfied. Make sure you need the features in the Pro version before deciding to upgrade. Just don't do the upgrade because it is available. That said, here are the facts
    • Obviously there is no discount for previous user of the Lite version. You have been using the Lite version for free and will need to purchase the Pro version first.
    • The path to upgrade/import your Lite data into the Pro is very possible, but a little complicated. The Lite version uses a different data structure than the Pro. There were only 3 files which made up the Pro version, but there are 18 data files in the Pro version. The information from the Lite version's Billing and Patient Records database can be imported in the the Pro version. Sorry, no Lite version cpt data will be imported, but it shouldn't take you that long to modify the Pro version.
    • If you are familiar with FileMaker Pro, you may want to try this on your own. I would suggest that you work only with copies of your data. Do not try upgrading your original files. Part of the upgrade process will covert the Pro files to a newer format which will not be compatible with the Pro runtime engine.
    • For a fee, typically under $100.00 I will covert the Billing and Patient Records files from the Lite version to the Pro version. You will need to contact me for an exact price. Part of the price will be determined by whether or not the process can be accomplished over the internet. If not, you will need to send me your files on a CD or 100 mb Zip disk. Sorry, I will not accept backup tapes! There are just too many formats. You will be responsible for a shipping charges as well. Since this takes some time for me to do, we should schedule it so that you don't have to re-enter a lot a data while I am converting your files.
