I created
this page to share information about our tandem bicycling trip
through the Champlain Islands. On September
30, 2005, we flew from Klamath Falls, OR to Burlington VT. It
was a fall colors ride that weve wanted to do for many
years. Our
plan was travel for five days staying in inns hotels along the
way. We wanted to ride about 50-60 miles per day. We didnt
bring any camping gear, unless you consider a credit card camping
gear! I wanted to post some information
about the ride. You would find the information in the report
helpful if you wanted to know:
- How we faired with the airlines traveling
with a tandem in the post 9/11 era.
- How we setup our tandem for touring.
- Where we traveled on our tour
The information
on this page is subject to the Conditions
of Use statement provided by Louis Du Brey. If this is your
first time to a hearingoffice.com web site, please view this

- Report
About The Trip
- There are two
version of this file, a high resolution and low resolution version.
The report is 11 pages, but includes many pictures. Higher resolution
looks a little better on screen and prints very nicely. The low
resolution version downloads quickly and looks OK on screen.
They both have the same information. Click the link below to
download the version you want.
- The files are
in portable document format, pdf. To view these files you must
have Adobe's Acrobat Reader installed. If you don't already have
this installed on your computer, visit Adobe's site, www.adobe.com, and download it for free.
Readers are available for all operating systems. Click on the
links below to view online. You can also use your right mouse
button to click on the file and "Save Target As" directly
to your hard drive.

- Low resolution

- This
is a stand alone application that will play the slide show on
your screen. You don't need anything but this file to view the
show. You will have the option to view the photos as a slide
show with music or in a scrapbook format where you can turn the
photos individually. If you need help running the slide show,
see the section above

- Printing
Photos
- I
posted a link here
today, 11/19/2005, to allow online printing. The link will be
active for 4-6 weeks. I'm not charging you to use my pictures,
but you will need to pay for the photo processing of any photos
you order. You are allowed to print photos for personal use only.
- Occasionally
the service does not update the small thumbnails for viewing
online. If this happens, select any photo by double clicking
and then use the arrow to load each picture individually.
- Sometimes
I'm asked to email my photos for home printing. I won't do this
for a number of reasons. If you do a lot of home printing, you
should know that photos last longer and are cheaper to print
using a professional service. Leo's
Camera store in Klamath Falls does excellent work and they
are very good to work with. When you use the online service,
you have an option to have the photos printed locally for same
day pickup. You can also have them mailed to your home, so the
process is very convenient.
- If
you want more information about why home printing isn't a great
idea, recently the NY Times published the article: Why
Do-It-Yourself Photo Printing Doesn't Add Up. Click here to read the full text.
